IDT Biologika to purchase PMSG solely from European sources

Blog Post Date: Monday 17 July 2017

IDT Biologika will only be purchasing pregnant mare serum gonadotropin (PMSG), a substance that plays a major role in modern animal husbandry, from European stables according to a decision announced at the beginning of the year. This will only be possible due to major advances in developing a new and far more effective production process that IDT has been intensively promoting for several years.

PMSG is a natural hormone that serves as a basis for manufacturing veterinary drugs used in modern animal husbandry; these drugs play an important role in keeping animals healthy.

The active component is mainly used in small and medium-sized family businesses for synchronising oestrus in breeding sows, allowing thorough hygiene management and preventing disease. Improvements in animal health reduce the need to administer drugs and antibiotics. PMSG, the active component, cannot yet be manufactured synthetically.
