IDT Biologika Releases Third Sustainability Report

Blog Post Date: Wednesday 20 August 2025

Dessau-Rosslau (Germany), August 20, 2025 – IDT Biologika, a leading contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) providing end-to-end services in the development and manufacturing of biologics, biosimilars, and sterile injectables, has published its third sustainability report.

Sustainability is a core part of our corporate culture. Whether it’s environmental and climate protection, respect for human rights, social engagement, or responsibility toward employees, customers, and partners – every contribution counts. We pursue a holistic approach and systematically integrate sustainable practices into our business activities and daily operations. At the same time, we continuously strive to improve ourselves. In our current sustainability report, we look back on our progress in 2024, including the following highlights:

Biodiversity: Preserving Habitats

Since 2022, our company site has been home to four bee colonies housed in a bee hotel. The diverse vegetation on site provides the bees with ideal food sources year-round. In December 2024, we expanded our commitment by installing additional insect hotels for wild bees. Protecting wild bees is critically important, not only for fruit cultivation but also for preserving many wild and cultivated plants.

Ecology: Saving Water, Raising Awareness

Mindful use of the resource water is a central concern for us. In addition to technical solutions such as water-saving valves, we focus on raising awareness and training our employees. Our efforts have paid off. In 2024, we reduced our drinking water consumption by 8.1 percent compared to the previous year.
Inspiring initiatives also come from our employees. Last fall, a team of employees supported NABU Leipzig, the regional branch of a German environmental NGO focused on nature and biodiversity conservation, by mowing meadows. This special team event impressively combined environmental commitment with strong teamwork.

Employees: Fostering Development, Strengthening Health

Our employees are key to our success. That’s why we create space for personal development and a culture of appreciation. In 2024, over 40 percent of our workforce participated in various training programs, including “Civic Scouts at Work,” language courses, and the leadership program “Starting Leaders.” As part of a project run by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK), three of our trainees qualified as “Energy Scouts”. They developed their own energy-saving project and gained valuable hands-on experience in energy management.

Employee health is also very important to us: through a comprehensive program covering exercise, relaxation, nutrition, and mental wellness, we promote the well-being of our teams. Highlights included participation in the company run in May, the health days with various activities in August, and the three-week “City Cycling” campaign in September.

We are proud of what we have achieved together in 2024 and we are motivated to continue this path consistently. You can find the full sustainability report on our website: idt-biologika.com/about-idt/sustainability
